Job Summary
Duties & Responsibilities
- Downloads, inspects, and maintains permanent and temporary water, storm and sanitary monitors.
- Performs statistical reviews of the data collected.
- Prepares an annual report summarizing the activities of the monitoring program as well as annual statistical summaries of flows, pressures or levels for each monitor.
- Prepares detailed statistical and analytical summaries for individual events and monitors, as required.
- Maintains an equipment log for each monitor.
- Maintains a data file library on computers and the MapGuide server.
- Installs and calibrates temporary flow monitors as required, includes flow profiling and assessing the suitability of locations for installing monitors.
- Conducts system assessments and inspections, as required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education, Training And Experience Requirements:
- Graduation from a recognized, two-year, post secondary civil, instrumentation, water resource or environmental engineering technology program.
- Two years related experience, including one year’s experience with depth, pressure and flow monitors and rain gauges.
- Possession of a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Driver’s Licence.
- Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
- Certification, or eligibility for certification, as an Applied Science Technologist with the Saskatchewan Applied Science Technologists and Technicians.
Knowledge, Abilities And Skills:
- Knowledge of the principles and methods of statistical and graphical analysis of data.
- Ability to use a variety of specialized computer software packages.
- Ability to prepare and present statistical and complex reports.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City officials, staff, representatives of other agencies, and the public.
- Physical ability to perform the assigned duties.
- Skill in the use of a computer with word-processing, database and spreadsheet software.
Additional Requirements
Evening and weekend work are involved.
Weekly Hours: 36.67
Salary Range: $72,362.64 to $79,779.84 CAD per annum (2026 rates)
