Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager, this working foreman position oversees all aspects of the mechanical maintenance program.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervises, schedules, assigns, evaluates and tracks the work of staff assigned relating to all aspects of the mechanical maintenance program for the plant.
  • Performs the work of assigned staff, as required.
  • Assists the Maintenance Engineer with budgeting for the program.
  • Assists the Maintenance Engineer with defining and prioritizing maintenance work.
  • Provides training, leadership and conflict resolution to employees in the maintenance work unit.
  • Participates in weekly meetings with Maintenance Engineer to discuss weekly job planning and prioritization.
  • Assists with the identification and development of standard operating practices.
  • Assists with development and management of work order and preventative maintenance system.
  • Demonstrates safe work practices by leading daily tool-box safety meetings, following job safety plans and conducting safe work observations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience Requirements

  • Possession of a Saskatchewan Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic, Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic, Journeyperson Plumber, or Journeyperson Welder Certificate.
  • Successful completion of Modules 1, 3, and 6 of the Maintenance Manager Professional Certification Program
  • Five years journeyperson experience, including two years’ water or wastewater industry experience and two years' supervisory experience.
  • An equivalent combination of supervisory experience and education may be considered.
  • Successful completion of the Construction Safety Officer (CSO) training program, within two years after the date of hire.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, valid, recognized first aid and CPR certificates.
  • Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver's Licence

 

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

  • Considerable knowledge of practices related to the care and operation of equipment and materials used in mechanical maintenance.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures associated with working with hazardous products, including knowledge of confined space procedures and WHMIS.
  • Ability to work with hazardous chemicals, such as ammonium hydroxide, lime and chlorine.
  • Ability to operate large equipment such as forklifts, skid-steer loaders and tractors.
  • Ability to perform duties in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining a clean work site.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Physical ability to perform the assigned duties.
  • Skill in the use of a computer with word-processing, spreadsheet and other data-processing software.

Acceptable current Criminal Record Check (CRC) upon offer of employment.

Weekly Hours: 9.25 

Salary Range: $92,002.56 to $92,002.56 CAD per annum (2023 rates)
