Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Maintenance Planner, this position performs preventative maintenance and semi-skilled repair work at various civic sites.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs various types of carpentry work including construction, repairs, renovations, etc., to interior and exterior of buildings and equipment.
  • Repairs locks, and keys locks to different systems.
  • Paints and stains, with various products, buildings, furniture and equipment.
  • Maintains, installs, replaces and repairs various types of building components, including ceiling tiles, carpet tiles, etc.
  • Operates a snow blower and other seasonal equipment.
  • Performs preventive maintenance of buildings, structures, equipment, furniture etc., in accordance with predetermined maintenance schedules.
  • Works with other staff to ensure all work meets applicable Provincial and Federal code standards.
  • Transports materials and equipment to and from job sites.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Training And Experience Requirements

  • Grade 12 education.
  • Three years' current related experience in construction/maintenance work.
  • Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver's Licence.
  • Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
  • Possession of a valid first aid certificate.

 

Knowledge, Abilities And Skills

  • Knowledge of the safe operation and maintenance of equipment and tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and perform carpentry and masonry work.
  • Ability to operate motorized equipment.
  • Ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with the public and civic employees.
  • Physical ability to perform the assigned duties, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Skill in the use of power tools.

Weekly Hours: 40 

Salary Range: $26.14 to $28.82 CAD per hour (2025 rates)
