Job Summary
Under supervision of the Supervisor X, this position performs various duties associated with the maintenance and upkeep of the fleet vehicles and equipment.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs various washing and cleaning activities associated with the maintenance and upkeep of the fleet vehicles and equipment, including routine vehicle washes, pre-service vehicle detailing, pre-inspection certification washes and aerial inspection washes.
- Operates and maintains the equipment used in the wash bay, such as the “Hotsy” pressure washer, the underbody washer, soap dispenser, etc.
- Provides customer-oriented service to all users of the wash bay services.
- Monitors usage of Wash Bay supplies. Orders supplies, as required.
- Maintains the wash bay in a safe and clean condition, including routine washing of walls, floors, doors and the cleaning out the “sump” pits.
- Transports vehicles and equipment around the yards and to and from Fleet Services.
- Completes required documentation such as inspection forms, service reports, etc.
- Maintains accurate washing times for scheduling and billing purposes.
- Supports and promotes the health and safety of employees and the general public in accordance with the Saskatchewan Employment Act, Saskatchewan Health Regulations and Standards, Occupational Health & Safety Regulations and the City of Saskatoon’s administrative Occupational Health & Safety policies and departmental procedures. Maintains and monitors programs which affect public and employee health and safety.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience Requirements:
- Grade 12 education.
- Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 3A Driver’s Licence.
- Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
- Possession of a valid, recognized first aid certificate.
- Successful completion of WHMIS training.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
- Ability to work in damp environment.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to organize and perform own work in an expedient manner.
- Ability to deal courteously and tactfully with co-workers.
- Physical ability to perform the assigned tasks.
Weekly Hours: 40
Salary Range: $26.52 CAD per hour (2023 rates)
