Job Summary
Under supervision of an Information Technology Coordinator, this position supports the City Clerk’s Office Information Governance department, analyses, implements, supports and administers our records management, data governance and content management platforms, and ensures information governance policies are implemented as designed.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Configure, administer, and fully understand The City’s information governance and compliance system.
- Implement functions such as: data classification, sensitivity labelling, and information protection.
- Enable records management in Purview and SharePoint by creating policies to manage document lifecycles as defined by The City Clerk’s Office.
- Create and execute procedures for migrating records and files from legacy systems to conform with the City’s information governance and compliance system.
- Perform compliance auditing and reporting.
- Documentation of all procedures and processes created for information governance and compliance.
- Consults with departments to determine information management requirements and presents recommendations of how to address those needs.
- Responds to, and resolves, system and production support issues as required.
- Supervises and trains staff as assigned
- Performs project roles as assigned.
- Ensures the resolution of production support issues as required.
- Prepares proposals and recommendations for management action.
- Participates in the the development and implementation of information technology policies, procedures and standards.
- Maintains knowledge of advancements as they pertain to current and future departmental and corporate IT requirements.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience Requirements
- Degree in computational science, or related discipline plus six years of experience in computer services, including two years of experience in information management OR successful completion of a recognized two-year, post-secondary computer science program, plus eight years of experience in computer services, two years of experience in information management.
- For the purpose of this posting it is preferred the applicant have at least one of the following certifications:
- Microsoft Certified: Information Protection and Compliance Administrator Associate
- Certified Information Professional (CIP)
- Certified Records Manager (CRM)
- Information Governance Professional (IGP)
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
- Considerable knowledge of the operational characteristics of data management platforms, including data governance, data classification, data lifecycle management, storage solutions, and supporting IT infrastructure.
- Considerable knowledge of Microsoft 365, Documentum, and SharePoint.
- Considerable knowledge of Information Technology best practices related to requirements gathering, business analysis, system design and implementation, quality assurance, service delivery and operational support.
- Knowledge of business analysis methodologies, project management tools and techniques, and the ability to participate in all project roles.
- Knowledge of the corporate organization, interdepartmental relationships and the relevant policies, practices and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, including preparing and conducting presentations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of all facets of the application development lifecycle, application quality assurance, supporting practices, and methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve results through effective leadership and development of others.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to establish effective relationships with all levels of the organization and external contacts.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver outcomes within agreed timelines and within project scope. Demonstrated ability to control project scope creep.

Weekly Hours: 36.67
Salary Range: $96,390.48 to $104,600.64 CAD per annum (2025 rates)
