Job Summary

This position ensures the various maintenance related software is configured, maintained and utilized to support efficient fleet maintenance operations. In addition, this position ensures accurate records are kept such as employee files, regulatory compliance documents.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervises, schedules and trains staff.  Assists with the recruitment process and performs disciplinary action, as required.
  • Assists in and monitors budgetary requirements for the Maintenance Section, including Stores.
  • Maintains all pertinent data within the various maintenance software and collaborates with the Fleet & Maintenance Manager and IT department.
  • Participates in the investigation and analysis of workplace accidents, report’s findings and recommends corrective action.
  • Works with Maintenance Supervisors) in the development of operating procedures concerning warranties and procurement of outsourced resources. 
  • Maintains records associated with all Transit staff training programs, adjudications and operator certifications, assessments and regulatory compliance documents.
  • Provides recommendations regarding the development of tender specifications for transit vehicles, shop equipment, tools and related services
  • Recommends changes to policies and practices relating to the Maintenance Section and the Fleet Management Systems and activities, and implements approved changes as required.
  • Assists with long-term strategies regarding the replacement and procurement of transit vehicles, shop equipment and tools.
  • Develops shop standard times and a quality control process for the repair of the buses.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of one year of a post-secondary program in a related discipline.
  • Four to six years’ progressively responsible experience.  Experience in the transit or transportation industry, and/or fleet management is an asset.
  • Prior experience working with fleet management systems for a commercial fleet.
  • Knowledge of warranty applications on parts and equipment.
  • Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
  • Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide supervision, leadership and training in order to achieve desired results.
  • Ability to interpret and administer relevant aspects of the collective agreement.
  • Ability to assess and resolve complaints in a satisfactory manner, including investigating and recommending appropriate solutions.
  • Ability to provide effective customer service internally and externally.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated skill in the operation of a computer with word-processing, databases, spreadsheets, and maintenance management systems. 

Weekly Hours: 36.67 

Salary Range: $71,064.48 to $83,177.52 CAD per annum (2023 rates)
