This position is a CUPE 859 position and will be filled in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Should it not be filled in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, external candidates will be considered.

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Superintendent, this position initiates maintenance and repair Work Orders and coordinates other fleet related activities such as servicing/inspections of fleet units, accident reports and invoice payment

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and schedules servicing, inspections, and upfit of all vehicles and equipment with user departments and vendors, prepares related shop work orders and monitors sublease work. Notifies user department when unit is complete.
  • Maintains preventative maintenance service, repair, and inspection records for all vehicles and equipment.
  • Responds to telephone enquiries directly and refers them to the appropriate party as necessary.
  • Assigns and issues Fleet seasonal vehicles and Motor Pool units. Coordinates and assigns short term external rentals to meet the needs of user departments.
  • Coordinates seasonal turn-ins and winter storage of vehicles and equipment. Prepares shop work orders upon turn-in and for pre-season checks.
  • Issues payment to vendors as required and reconciles month end statements.
  • Maintains warranty information for all vehicles and equipment and identifies possible warranty coverage.
  • Completes accident and damage reports and negotiates write-offs and repairs with SGI.
  • Coordinate inspection of new vehicles and equipment for compliance with City specifications.
  • Update vehicle & equipment preventative maintenance charts & schedules as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience Requirements:

  • Grade 12 education.
  • Three years' experience in large fleet maintenance or vehicle/equipment repair centre planning and scheduling service and repairs
  • Experience with service record keeping, including accident reporting and customer service.
  • Experience issuing Purchase Orders, submitting Purchase Requests, month end reconciliation
  • Experience using SAP software would be considered an asset.
  • Possession of or must obtain through employer provided training a valid Saskatchewan Class 3A Drivers Licence.
  • Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to regularly and consistently attend work to ensure effective operations and service delivery.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of, and ability to follow all applicable procedures and policies.
  • Knowledge of the vehicle and equipment needs of the user groups within the City.
  • Knowledge of the terminology and practices used in vehicle and equipment servicing, repair, and rental.
  • Ability to use computerized fleet management information systems to perform required tasks, typing of 40 wpm required
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to maintain attention to detail and organize work to meet schedules.
  • Ability to deal effectively orally and in writing with suppliers and civic staff.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Weekly Hours: 40 

Salary Range: $34.06 to $35.81 CAD per hour  (2026 rates)
