Job Summary
This position coordinates the planning, design, implementation, and management of a variety of inspections, enforcement, and compliance programs for the Saskatoon Fire Department
Duties & Responsibilities
- Undertakes the planning, design, implementation and management of the Demolition and Property Remediation Process (DPR).
- Liaises and manages the Property Tax Enforcement process on behalf of the department.
- Researches and assembles information and correspondence pertaining to enquiries or questions initiated by internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinates the enforcement and tracking system, including administering legal documents for the Saskatoon Fire Department. Ensures that all documentation is served and disseminated properly.
- Reviews qualifications and administers certificates and authorization numbers for technicians and vendors.
- Assists with the department blanket purchase order portfolio, including the preparation of tender documents, the preparation of purchase requisitions for new blanket purchase orders as well renewing existing purchase orders, ensuring all personnel have accurate blanket purchase order information. Maintains accurate files for all blanket purchase orders.
- Coordinates public education and prevention programs with Community Stakeholders.
- Prepares and analyses various division program and service level data. Prepares reports for the management team.
- Conducts fire district audits and prepares compliance reports.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Graduation from a one-year business related program.
- Four to six years’ in the enforcement, compliance, order writing process, appeal process and bylaws for the Saskatoon Fire Department with an emphasis on safety initiatives, project management and construction.
- Possession of a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Driver’s Licence.
- Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
- Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of Occupational Health and Safety compliance, City of Saskatoon OHS Programs, ISNetworld and Prime Contractors’ roles and responsibility as it pertains to enacting out compliance.
- Knowledge of related budgeting and financial procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, direct, and manage resources and provide project control.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, including the ability to prepare and present complex technical reports.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with civic staff, civic officials, representatives of other agencies and the public.
- Demonstrated skill in the use of a computer with Microsoft Office software. Experience in Fire Data Management (FDM) or Power Business Intelligence would be an asset.
- Knowledge of The Local Authority Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act
Weekly Hours: 36.67
Salary Range: $66,250.32 to $77,581.92 CAD per annum (2023 rates)
