Job Summary

Under the supervision and direction of the Meter Services Engineer, this position ensures that the Quality Management System, in collaboration with the Metering Foreman, is implemented and is effective, and ensures that the quality of the product or service provided by Metering Services meets or exceeds the requirements of the Quality Management System.

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Assists the Meter Services Engineer with the development of processes, procedures and methods required to establish and improve the Quality Management System.
  2. Develops, maintains, and controls the Quality Management System Manual.
  3. Provides all relevant training to any staff associated with the Quality Management System.
  4. Performs routine audits as required and facilitates internal and Measurement Canada audits.
  5. Reports on the status and adequacy of the Quality Management System and verifies personnel, facilities and other resources are available.
  6. Supervises processing, delivery and installation of product and services. Ensures non-conformance, deficiencies and unsatisfactory conditions are corrected.
  7. Identifies and records Quality issues. Initiates, recommends and provides solutions to Quality issues.
  8. Ensures completion of all required Quality documentation and ensures Quality Records are maintained and secure.
  9. Monitors Measurement Canada requirements, including legislation, standards, approvals, bulletins, etc. and recommends any required changes to the Quality Management System.
  10. Performs the duties of the Metering Technologist, as required, under the supervision of the Metering Foreman.
  11. Performs other related duties as assigned.


  • Graduation from a recognized, two-year, post-secondary electrical engineering or electronic systems engineering technology program.
  • Four years’ related experience in an accredited revenue-metering field.
  • Eligible for certification as an Applied Science Technologist by the Saskatchewan Applied Science Technologists and Technicians.
  • Successful completion of approved training in quality assurance programs specific to Measurement Canada Metering Services Accreditation.
  • Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
  • Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
  • Knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the metering trade.
  • Knowledge of statistical sampling methods.
  • Knowledge of Measurement Canada and ISO quality assurance standards and related legislation and specifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, including the ability to plan and facilitate training sessions.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, civic employees and the general public.
  • Ability to maintain attention to detail.
  • Physical ability, including complete colour vision, to perform the assigned duties.
  • Skill in the operation of a computer with word processing and database software.


Weekly Hours: 37.33 

Salary Range: $42.50 to $47.37 CAD per hour (2022 rates)
