Job Summary
Duties & Responsibilities
- Inspects plumbing system installations at various stages of completion, including inspections of alterations made because of renovations, fire damage, public health concerns, etc., to ensure compliance with the regulations and legislation. Witnesses all tests performed and documents the results. Maintains a detailed record of inspections.
- Examines plans. Approves or rejects applications for plumbing permits in accordance with the regulations and legislation.
- Advises contractors, private industries and the public regarding plumbing regulations and legislation.
- Investigates suspected unauthorized plumbing and initiates prosecutions when necessary.
- Approves the licensing of plumbers and contractors who meet the requirements to operate in the City.
- Assists with the development and changes to plumbing permit program, procedures, pamphlets and code interpretations for use by staff and the public.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience Requirements
- Grade 12 education.
- Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Journeyman Plumber Certificate, including completion of a recognized apprenticeship program.
- Five years' subsequent related journeyman trade experience, including at least two years’ related inspection experience.
- Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver's Licence and a vehicle suitable for use in performance of duties.
- Current driver’s abstract demonstrating a safe driving record.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
- Knowledge of all pertinent standards, regulations, policies, procedures and bylaws.
- Ability to interpret, and make decisions in accordance with, established policies and procedures.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
- Ability to express ideas effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with people in a tactful, courteous and authoritative manner.
- Ability to maintain current knowledge of technical advancements and changes in the construction industry.

Overtime will be required.
Weekly Hours: 36.67
Salary Range: $78,705.84 to $86,773.68 CAD per annum (2025 rates)
