Job Summary
Under supervision of the Land Development Project Manager, this position prepares conceptual and detailed landscaping and subdivision designs; tender documents, administers contracts and project manages the construction for Saskatoon Land landscaping, enhancement projects and supports other related land development activities.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepares conceptual and detailed designs, related presentation drawings, working drawings, estimates, specifications and tender documents.
- Administer contracts and manages project construction.
- Communicates with customers and other relevant stakeholders regarding existing and future neighbourhood projects.
- Attends and participates at new neighbourhood public information meetings.
- Assists with the interpretation and application of City of Saskatoon policies, standards and guidelines pertaining to landscape and other enhancement design, construction and maintenance projects.
- Prepares feasibility studies and reports as required for landscaping and other projects.
- Assists in the preparation of Neighbourhood Concept Plans , recreation sites and public open spaces.
- Assists in the understanding and promotion of sustainable land development practices as it relates to landscape development and other enhancement projects.
- Supports and promotes a safe and positive workplace culture through a variety of initiatives and activities.
- Supports and promotes the health and safety of employees in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act & Regulations in addition to the City of Saskatoon’s Administrative Occupational Health & Safety Policies and departmental procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience Requirements:
- Degree in planning, landscape architecture or related field.
- Three years' experience in all phases of landscape architecture, including design, preparation of working drawings and supervising development of urban parks and recreation projects.
- Full Membership, or eligibility for Full Membership to the Saskatchewan Association of Landscape Architects or related professional membership
- Possession of a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Driver’s Licence.
- Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
- Knowledge of planning and land development construction processes.
- Knowledge of landscape design including hardscape elements, plant materials and irrigation.
- Demonstrated experience in the application of City of Saskatoon Park Development Guidelines and Standard Construction Specifications.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to prepare presentations and working drawings for landscape and other enhancement projects.
- Ability to prepare specifications, estimates and reports.
- Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated skill in the use of AutoCad.
- Skill in developing grading plans, drainage systems and balanced cut/fill.
- Skill in the operation of a computer with word-processing and spreadsheet software (e.g. Microsoft Office).
Weekly Hours: 36.67
Salary Range: $78,705.84 to $86,773.68 CAD per annum (2025 rates)
