This position is a CUPE 859 position and will be filled in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Should it not be filled in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, external candidates will be considered.

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Supervisor, this position performs unskilled physical labour, minor maintenance and repair work within Fleet Services

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of manual labour duties for the Fleet Services operations. 
  • Delivers and picks up a variety of vehicles and parts as directed.
  • Assists with maintaining the shop and work areas in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Performs routine maintenance and inspections on shop support equipment such as various hand tools, power tools, hydraulic jacks, parts washer, etc.
  • Ensures work activities are performed in accordance with corporate safety policies, regulations and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
     

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience Requirements:

  • Grade 10 education.
  • Six months experience in the operation of machinery and power tools.  
  • Experience working in a Fleet related environment would be an asset.
  • Possession of a Forklift operator certificate, training provided upon hire.
  • Possessoin of a valid Class 5 Driver's Licence. 
  • Current driver abstract, from SGI, demonstrating a safe driving record.
  • Ability to obtain a class 3A Driver's Licence within a year

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to regularly and consistently attend work to ensure effective operations and service delivery.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of, and ability to follow all applicable procedures and policies.   
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with the public and civic employees.
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods and under all weather conditions as required by work assignments. 
  • Physical ability to perform the assigned duties.
  • Skill in the operation of small maintenance equipment, hand, and power tools in an efficient, responsible manner and in accordance with recognized procedures.

Additional Requirements

Shift work and weekend work may be involved.

Weekly Hours: 40 

Salary Range: $18.90 to $24.80 CAD per hour (2026 rates)
