This position is a IAFF 80 position and will be filled in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Should it not be filled in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, external candidates will be considered.
Job Summary
Under supervision of the Assistant Chief of Logistics, this position is responsible for developing and maintaining all functions relating to inventory management including ordering, stocking, staging and distribution of parts and consumables for the SFD Logistics department.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversees the development, organization, and standardization of inventory stock and processes of the SFD Logistics department.
- Supports the planning, scheduling, and coordination for servicing of all equipment, fleet, and apparatus through Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) within SAP.
- Facilitates procurement and distribution of inventories to Saskatoon Fire Department (SFD) facilities.
- Assists accounting staff with purchase order invoicing, payment issues, and/or claims related to lost and damaged inventory.
- Sources quotes and issues purchase orders for materials, tools, and commodities using the SAP system.
- Maintains and monitors warranty information for all vehicles and equipment.
- Facilitates in the identification, information gathering, and template completion for standards of work documents related to the Logistics department.
- Performs cycle counts and other periodic reviews of stock items to ensure the accuracy of system data; investigates and reconciles discrepancies.
- Assists with the implementation of corporate risk security measures as stated in City inventory procedures.
- Supports and promotes a safe and positive workplace culture through a variety of initiatives and activities. Ensures a corporate approach to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS).
- Supports and promotes the health and safety of employees in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act & Regulations in addition to the City of Saskatoon’s administrative Occupational Health & Safety policies and departmental procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Successful completion of a related one-year business certificate program from a post-secondary college or university.
- Any of the following qualifications would be considered an asset.
- Parts Journeyman ticket.
- Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation.
- Red Seal Journeyperson certificate in heavy equipment maintenance, with at least two years experience working in a maintenance environment, asset management or business analysis
- Two to four years' experience in fleet maintenance coordination and service record keeping, including accident reporting and customer service experience.
- Two years related experience working with SAP or similar ERP/MRP replenishment program.
- Successful completion of Supply Chain Canada Procurement and Operations management courses
- Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Drivers Licence.
- Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record
- Knowledge of and ability to work within SAP system to perform procurement functions and to track key performance indicators to improve department function.
- Knowledge of best practices related to inventory and asset management.
- Knowledge of best practices of storekeeping methods and procedures involved in ordering, receiving, storing, and issuing supplies.
- Knowledge of components, fluids, parts, and tools used for servicing vehicles, heavy apparatus, and light equipment.
- Considerable knowledge of the terminology and practices used in vehicle and equipment servicing.
- Skills in the operation of office equipment.
- Skill with Microsoft Suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, maintain attention to detail, and organize work to meet maintenance schedules.
- Ability to work in a team environment and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other civic departments, suppliers, and shipping agencies.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Physical ability to perform the assigned duties, including lifting heavy material.

Salary Range: $72,543.60 to $89,284.56 CAD per annum (2023 rates)
