Job Summary

This position provides leadership and coordination for the City’s Identity and Security Operations function, ensuring the protection of corporate digital assets and compliance with security policies and procedures. The Identity and Security Operations Coordinator leads the Digital Technology operational security and identity management team, collaborates with infrastructure, cybersecurity, and client technology teams, and oversees the implementation of secure practices across network, server, storage, and endpoint environments.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plans, analyses and makes recommendations for the implementation and integration of identity and security operations, including network, server, storage, and endpoint security solutions.
  • Lead the Identity and Security Operations team, providing scheduling, direction, guidance, and support to staff.
  • Works with application and technology teams to facilitate the transition of security controls into production, ensuring adherence to documentation and deployment standards.
  • Evaluates resource utilization and performance and makes recommendations regarding future security hardware and software requirements.
  • Evaluates new and revised security systems to ensure optimal integration with installed or planned technological resources.  Supports the effective implementation and operation of these systems.
  • Coordinate joint initiatives with CyberSecurity, including incident response, vulnerability management, and security awareness activities.
  • Maintains current knowledge of security technologies, threats, and best practices relevant to municipal operations.
  • Oversee monitoring and response for security events, ensuring timely resolution and escalation as required.
  • Act as technical liaison for vendors and internal stakeholders regarding security technologies and processes.
  • Evaluate and recommend hardware/software solutions to enhance security posture and operational resilience.
  • Assists in the development of Digital Technology security policies, procedures and standards.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related discipline.
  • Seven or more years of experience in information technology services, including five years’ experience a leadership role for the delivery of digital security operations, cybersecurity, or network security.
  • ITIL 4 Foundations certification required.  ITL Strategic Leader or COBIT Certification would be beneficial.

 

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience with digital security operations systems and project management.
  • Thorough knowledge of operational and technical characteristics of digital security operations technologies.
  • Demonstrable ability to plan for, and coordinate, a group of technical staff.
  • Demonstrable interpersonal skills and the ability to relate well with all levels of the organization and external contacts.
  • Demonstrable ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, including the ability to prepare and conduct presentations.

Requires Security Check

Acceptable current Criminal Record Check (CRC) upon offer of employment.

Weekly Hours: 36.67 

Salary Range: $100,002.72 to $114,966.48 CAD per annum (2023 rates)
