Job Summary

Under supervision of the Greenskeeper for the golf course, this position maintains and repairs golf course maintenance equipment.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Repairs, and maintains in safe operating condition, tractors, skid steer loaders, greens mowers, fairway mowers, sand trap rakes, aerators, power carts, reel and rotary mowers, turf mowers, lawn mowers, powered hand equipment and other specialized equipment for golf course maintenance, including repair of engines (gasoline and diesel), hydraulic systems diagnosis and repair, electrical diagnosis and repair, reel grinding, sharpening, set up, and drive-trains.
• Orders supplies and prepares purchase orders as required.  Maintains records of equipment and parts inventory.
• Establishes and maintains a preventive maintenance program for equipment servicing and repair.  Maintains manuals concerning all equipment, and refers to them as required.
• Ensures adherence to safety policies, work procedures and Departmental policies.
• Assists with building maintenance as required.
• Assists with irrigation system repairs as required.
• Performs welding and fabricating duties.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience Requirements

• Grade 12 education.
• Possession of a Turf Equipment Technician Certification.
• Five years' related golf course turf equipment repairs and maintenance experience.
• Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver's Licence.
• Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid first aid certificate.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

• Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and standard practices of the turf equipment mechanical trade.
• Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
• Knowledge of the operating and repair characteristics of a wide variety of golf course equipment.
• Knowledge of irrigation systems and their repair.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision.
• Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with civic employees.
• Ability to perform arc and acetylene welding and fabricating.
