Job Summary
Under supervision of the Parks Asset Management Coordinator, this position performs a variety of functions and activities related to the implementation, administration, and maintenance of the geographic information system (GIS) for the Department.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintains the databases related to parks, open space, natural, and urban forestry assets.
- Prepares drawings and queries using GIS, AutoCAD, and spatial analysis.
- Responds to enquiries and provides information from the spatial database to staff and the public.
- Maintains current knowledge of AutoCAD and GIS hardware and software developments.
- Assists with developing, evaluating and recommending standards and procedures for the revision of the GIS databases, managing files and maintaining backup systems.
- Assists with evaluating, recommending, and developing standards and procedures for the design, implementation and on-going maintenance of AutoCAD and GIS.
- Maintains, and assists with the development of GIS and AutoCAD standards. Recommends procedures to ensure adherence to standards and quality control related to AutoCAD drawings, GIS drawings and spatial information.
- Provides direction and guidance to Department staff regarding GIS and AutoCAD processes and software, as required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Graduation from a recognized, two-year, post-secondary drafting technology program or equivalent with additional course supplementation in GIS
- Possession of, or eligibility for, Technology Professionals Saskatchewan certification as an Applied Science Technologist (A.Sc.T.).
- Successful completion of recognized AutoCAD and GIS courses.
- Two years’ related experience with GIS applications. Experience with natural assets would be an asset.
- Thorough knowledge of GIS concepts and related software.
- Knowledge of the organization, interrelation, policies, and programs of civic departments would be an asset.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to work as a team member and independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to interpret maps, plans, survey notes and other relevant data.
- Skill in the use and maintenance of current AutoCAD, SQL, ArcGIS, and other GIS database software.
Weekly Hours: 36.67
Salary Range: $70,597.92 to $77,833.92 CAD per annum (2025 rates)
