Job Summary
Under supervision of the Captain, this position works as a member of a team to respond to a variety of emergency situations.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Mitigates emergencies involving fires.
- Responds to pre-hospital emergency medical incidents, dangerous goods incidents and emergency rescues.
- Performs fire prevention and inspection duties within an assigned area.
- Maintains apparatus.
- Participates in the required training.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Possession of a certificate in public fire protection from a program accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) and/or ProBoard, with the following minimum certifications:
NFPA 1001 Fire Fighting Practices Level I
NFPA 1001 Fire Fighting Practices Level II
NFPA 1002 Apparatus Driver / Operator (Pumper)
NFPA 1041 Fire Service Instructor Level I
NFPA 472 OR NFPA1072 Hazardous Materials (Operation Levels)
- NFPA 1031 Fire Inspector Level I OR NFPA 1030 Fire Inspector, would be considered an asset but is not mandatory.
- Listed as a practicing unrestricted Primary Care Paramedic (2011 National Occupational Competency Profile) on the current members roster of the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics.
- Current International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) BASIC certificate.
- Successful completion of the Fitness York Fire Fighter Applicant Fitness Assessment. The assessment must have occurred within the six months prior to start date.
- Must meet the current National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standard 1582 for vision at the time of application. Successful applicants will be required to supply an optometrist’s report.
- No more than 30-decibel hearing loss in either ear, average at 500, 1000, and 2000 C.P.S.
- Must meet the current National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standard 1582 for medical conditions at the time of application. Successful applicants will be required to supply a medical report that has been completed by a legally qualified medical practitioner.
- Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s Licence or equivalent.
- Current driver’s abstract from the driver’s licensing authority or home province demonstrating a safe driving record. Successful applicants from another province will be required to produce a valid Saskatchewan Driver’s Licence within 90 days of commencing employment with the department.

Weekly Hours: 42
Salary Range: $78,123.84 to $120,534.00 CAD per annum (2023 rates)
