The Strategy & Transformation division is looking for an Enterprise Architect - ERP (SAP).

The Work You Will Be Involved In:

This position oversees the development and maintenance of the City’s enterprise architecture strategy, utilizing technology to improve service to our citizens and improve efficiencies in operations, collaborates with senior business stakeholders and senior IT professionals to identify corporate business drivers for the architecture requirements and contributes to the development of the IT business plan. This position coordinates the development and integration of the Application, Infrastructure and Data Architecture Roadmaps and strategies to align IT projects with the City’s strategic business directions.

 

  • Oversees the development of both the City’s enterprise architecture strategy and the development of the planning process required to regularly update that strategy. 
  • Builds and maintains a communications bridge between senior business stakeholders and senior IT professionals; lead the identification and analysis of corporate business drivers to develop enterprise architecture requirements; identify consequences and opportunities derived from the synergies between business operations and technology. 
  • Contributes to the development of a comprehensive IT business plan, utilizing technology to improve service to our citizens and improve efficiencies in operations that aligns with the City’s strategy and vision. 
  • Coordinates the development and integration of the Application, Infrastructure, and Data Architecture Roadmaps and strategies to align IT projects with the City’s strategic business directions.
  • Implements processes to maintain and update the IT Roadmaps, ensuring they remain current and effective. 
  • Oversees the development of models and documentation describing the enterprise architecture.
  • Promotes stewardship of IT assets, contribute to setting technology standards and drive their adoption by business divisions. Interact with senior business stakeholders, technology leaders, and individual developers of many different teams at the same time.
  • Interacts with corporate project teams to ensure project objectives are consistent with enterprise architecture standards.
  • Collaborates with business partners to achieve support for enterprise architecture and other Division focuses such as planning and project management; work closely with department analysts and coordinators to ensure understanding and concurrency with their business partner’s short and long term projects.
  • Leads a transition of all existing processes and systems to meet the adopted architectural standards for applications/services and infrastructure technology, as those existing systems are replaced or phased out.
  • Works with the various project managers to ensure that all new processes and system designs are aligned with the adopted architectural standards for applications/services and infrastructure technology.
  • Develops and maintain relationships across the City organization, ensuring superior customer service is being delivered. Important components of this are being sensitive to the business needs of all business partners as well as being open and responsive to change.
  • Collaborates with, persuade and negotiate with business areas and Process Owners, being aware of corporate strategies, sensitivities and priorities. 
  • Provides high-level assistance for strategy and policy; architecture, technology, and development methodology.
  • Monitors and assess emerging technologies and future direction of major application and technology platforms, providing recommendations on direction and timing for adoption.
  • Liaises, confer, partner or collaborate with external stakeholders, organizations and other government agencies across Canada, noting trends and best practices that may impact the Division’s direction.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Degree in computer science or related discipline.
  • Seven to nine years’ IT experience related to architecture design and development, systems lifecycle management and infrastructure planning and operations, including 4 years in a project management role involving cross functional teams.
  • Demonstrated experience with specialized enterprise portfolios such as ERP ecosystems (SAP S/4 HANA) or citizen-facing business systems (CRM, Transit, Utility Billing, Permitting)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industry standard frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, COBIT and/or ITIL
  • Demonstrated knowledge of design tools and methodologies
  • Demonstrated knowledge of IT project management methodology and techniques.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of operating systems, hardware development languages, communication protocols and relational databases.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the software development lifecycle
  • Knowledge and experience in developing strategic information systems plans
  • Strong abilities in relationship management, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish strong relationships with internal staff and business partners, with an ability to express technical concepts in business terms.
  • Ability to brainstorm well with cross functional teams and give and take constructive feedback.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, exercising initiative and good judgement to complete work assignments and contribute toward a positive work environment
  • Ability to motivate and encourage others towards a common vision or strategy.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and conceptual skills.
  • Skilled in writing effective reports and documentation.

Salary Range: $113,871.36 to $133,798.56 CAD per annum (2026 rates)
