Job Summary
Under supervision of a senior Engineering Technologist, this position performs routine field and office duties related to survey and inspection of a variety of roadway and water and sewer utility systems.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provides basic support services for surveying and inspecting a variety of roadways and water and sewer projects. Assists with all aspects of surveying and inspection.
- Performs mathematical computations involving geometry and trigonometry and uses tools and instruments, including Total Stations and microcomputers as required, to obtain electronic survey data.
- Performs inspections of roadway and water and sewer construction, operations and maintenance projects. Prepares detailed construction progress reports and, under the direction of a senior Engineering Assistant, checks for compliance with specifications and Occupational Health and Safety standards.
- Maintains equipment associated with survey and inspection operations.
- Prepares drawings from field information using conventional and electronic drafting techniques.
- Performs associated office duties.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience Requirements
- Successful completion of one year of a two-year, post-secondary civil or mechanical engineering technology or geomatics program.
- Six months' directly related work experience.
- Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver's Licence.
- Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
- Knowledge of basic drafting techniques.
- Ability to operate conventional and electronic survey and data-collection equipment.
- Ability to produce, read and interpret engineering plans and specifications.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Physical ability to perform the assigned duties.
- Skill in the operation of a computer with word-processing, spreadsheet and database software.
Weekly Hours: 40
Salary Range: $52,968.48 to $58,398.48 CAD per annum (2026 rates)
