Job Summary

Under the direction of the Electrical Engineering Technologist II, and the supervision of the Senior Project Management Engineer or Lighting Superintendent, this position performs office and field work related to street lighting and electrical transmission and distribution.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepares drawings and sketches for work orders and final drafting.
• Assists with the design of overhead and underground distribution systems, street and pathway lighting.
• Assists with work order preparation, cost estimation and budget estimates, as required.
• Assists with troubleshooting and testing of field equipment used on distribution and lighting systems.
• Records as-built information of completed projects and is involved in updating the mapping/GIS systems.
• Performs field work, as required, including elementary surveying, contractor supervision in conjunction with appropriate trades, inspection, recording of installations and taking physical and electrical measurements.
• Locates and stakes the underground and other utility facilities for construction clearances.
• Performs related assignments from engineering staff.
• Prepares various reports, as required.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience Requirements

• Graduation from a two-year, post-secondary Electrical Engineering Technology program.
• Eligible for certification as an Professional Technologist (P. Tech) with the Technology Professionals Saskatchewan.
• Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver's Licence.
• Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

• Ability to deal courteously and tactfully with the public and to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Physical ability to perform the assigned duties outside under varying weather conditions.
• Skill in the use of a computer with spreadsheet, database and AutoCAD software.
