Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager, the Electrical, Instrumentation, and Controls (EI&C) Foreman is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the electrical and instrumentation maintenance programs for the plant. This position involves supervising and scheduling staff, as well as performing maintenance duties as required.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervises, schedules, assigns, evaluates, and tracks the work of staff assigned to electrical and instrumentation maintenance tasks.
- Performs the work of assigned staff, as required.
- Assists the Maintenance Manager with budgeting for the program.
- Assists the Maintenance Manager with defining and prioritizing EI&C maintenance work.
- Provides training, leadership, and conflict resolution to employees in the EI&C maintenance work unit.
- Participates in weekly meetings with Maintenance Manager to discuss weekly job planning and prioritization.
- Assists with the identification and development of standard operating practices.
- Assists with development and management of work order and preventative maintenance systems.
- Demonstrates safe work practices by leading daily tool-box safety meetings, following job safety plans, ensuring staff obtain required trainings, and conducting safe work observations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience Requirements
- Possession of a Journeyperson Electrical Trade Designation OR Instrumentation and Controls Technician Designation OR graduation from the Instrumentation Engineering Technology Program.
- Five years’ Journeyperson or Technologist experience, including two years' supervisory and two years’ water or wastewater treatment experience.
- Possession of Certificate of Completion for Modules 1, 3, and 6 of the MMP Program. Having designation of MMP would also be considered an asset.
- Completion of City of Saskatoon internal Leadership Training such as Supervisor 101, or equivalent.
- An equivalent combination of supervisory experience and education may be considered.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, valid, recognized First Aid and CPR certificates.
- Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver's Licence.
- Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
- Considerable knowledge of practices related to the care and operation of electrical and instrumentation equipment and materials.
- Knowledge of safety procedures associated with working with electrical and instrumentation equipment, including knowledge of confined space procedures and WHMIS.
- Ability to perform duties in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining a clean work site.
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Physical ability to perform the assigned duties.
- Skill in the use of a computer with word-processing, maintenance management systems, spreadsheet, and other data-processing software.

Weekly Hours: 38.75
Salary Range: $92,002.56 CAD per annum (2023 rates)
