Job Summary
This position provides professional corporate internal communications, public-facing communications and event planning services for Strategic Partner Divisions. This role is pivotal in supporting the overarching internal communication strategy that brings the organization’s vision, values and corporate transformation initiatives to life.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develops, manages, implements and evaluates corporate internal communications and public-facing communications initiatives and strategies for divisional management.
- Provides strategic communications support on matters that are confidential and are of a sensitive nature, such as corporate restructuring, labour and employee relations issues and bargaining issues.
- Provides strategic communications support to divisional management and collaborates with Media Relations as needed.
- Participates in the development and implementation of an effective mix of internal communication channels for desk-based employees and harder to reach groups.
- Participates in the development and implementation of corporate internal communication training programs and materials.
- Plans and manages events and experiences that enhance the corporate culture.
- Prepares and coordinates approval of compelling content for newsletters, internal website, announcements, speaking notes, corporate reports, presentations, and other internal messages.
- Participates in the development and implementation of internal communication policies and procedures to help set the standard for clear, consistent, timely and compelling internal narratives.
- Identifies and measures meaningful metrics to guide future strategy and track internal communications effectiveness.
- Identifies emerging issues and trends relating to internal and public-facing communications.
- Participates in the coordination of issues management and crisis communications, as required.
- Develops and manages related budgets.
- Acts as the Internal Communications Business Partner, as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or journalism.
- Four to six years' related experience in a communication, marketing field, including experience in internal, public and strategic communications and event planning.
- Membership, or eligibility for membership, in the Canadian Public Relations Society or the International Association of Business Communicators, accreditation preferred.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive information.
- Ability to exercise sound judgement and decision-making under strict time constraints and competing priorities in complex and demanding circumstances.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships within the organization and community (government representatives, elected officials, public, media and civic staff).
- Knowledge of internal websites and social media design and management.
- Skill in the use of a smart phone and computer using word-processing, websites, intranets and other social media programs and software.
Additional Requirements
Must be available to be on-call.
Weekly Hours: 40
Salary Range: $89,358.72 to $104,997.12 CAD per annum (2025 rates)
