Job Summary
Under supervision of the Auntie Advocate, this position provides administrative, accounting, and clerical support to the Auntie Advocate, contributing to initiatives that promote a safe and inclusive Saskatoon for Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit people (IWG2S). This position requires strong organizational skills, cultural awareness, and the ability to manage sensitive information with discretion.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Types, formats and processes a variety of Departmental correspondence, tenders, manuals and reports, including reports for submission to City Council and its subcommittees, from written copy and electronic sources using appropriate business English.
- Process purchasing transactions and invoices; maintain financial records. Support strategic planning, budgeting, and resource coordination.
- Manage the Auntie Advocate’s calendar, activities, and administrative needs.
- Maintain and update content on the Corporate SharePoint site.
- Perform confidential clerical tasks including correspondence and scheduling,
- Coordinate office supplies and assist with event logistics and errands.
- Establish respectful relationships with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, Families and survivors.
- Provide transportation for Elders, Knowledge Keepers, Family members and survivors.
- Follows protocol teachings which requires one on one interactions with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, Families and survivors.
- Interact independently with Families/community in Auntie’s absence.
- Screens in-person and telephone enquiries and determines appropriate initial action.
- Enters data into database systems and spreadsheets, ensures the integrity of the data, and produces reports.
- Uses effective customer service techniques in the performance of all duties.
- Prioritizes duties and responsibilities to meet established guidelines and timelines.
- Acts as secretary for meetings by arranging meetings, preparing agendas, and taking and transcribing minutes, as required.
- Assists with records management, manual and automated, for the Department.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education, Training & Experience Requirements:
- Grade 12 education.
- Graduation from a recognized business college.
- 3 years of related experience in secretarial or general office work
- Typing speed of 45 w.p.m.
- Valid Saskatchewan’s Class 5 driver’s license and access to a vehicle (asset)
- Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
Knowledge, Abilities & Skills:
- Understanding of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and protocols.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Thorough knowledge of business English and arithmetic.
- Considerable knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to prioritize duties and responsibilities.
- Ability to make decisions in accordance with established parameters.
- Demonstrated skill in the operation of a computer using MS Word and Excel.

Weekly Hours: 36.67
Salary Range: $58,509.84 to $64,506.72 CAD per annum (2026 rates)
