The Digital Technology department is looking for a Business Services Manager.

The Work You Will Be Involved In:

This position is responsible for ensuring excellence in the delivery of technology business services, aligning these services with the city’s needs and supporting its strategic objectives. This position manages business facing services including Service Desk, Client support, Web Applications, SharePoint and Mail and Print to enhance service delivery and customer-focused practices.

 

  • Manages and leads a high-performance Business Services team to oversee the successful delivery of IT Services to meet the city’s needs.
  • Monitor and report on Business Services performance and service level agreements.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans and roadmaps for Business Services using a customer centric approach to deliver business and customer value.
  • Identifies and implements industry leading practices, technologies, and opportunities for continuous improvement and operational efficiencies for Business Services.
  • Builds and maintains effective working relationships with business units and relevant stakeholders to ensure the Departmental initiatives are achieved.
  • Supports the Business Services team in developing business cases, conducting cost benefit analysis, prioritizing and executing projects, and ensuring alignment with the corporate goals.
  • Prepares and manages budgets related to Business Services.
  • Negotiates and manages vendor contracts and agreements including facilitating Service Level Agreement (SLA) negotiation.
  • Participates in the technology aspects of the business-sponsored RFIs/RFPs.
  • Recruits, trains, supervises, mentors, and evaluates the professional and technical staff engaged in, application delivery services, project management, and problem resolution.
  • Participates in corporate technology strategy development
  • Prepares and presents necessary written and verbal reports to management, relating to all aspects of business services.
  • Maintains current knowledge of related technological advancements as they pertain to Business Services requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What We Are Looking For:

  • University Degree in computer science or related discipline.
  • Ten years’ experience in information technology services including five years' experience in a responsible management role.
  • Thorough knowledge of service delivery frameworks like ITIL.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute successful short- and long-term business / strategic plans.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of UX (Customer User Experience).
  • Thorough knowledge of information processing systems, IT Service Desk, Web and SharePoint, Mail and Print.
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles of organization, management and administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and guide business services team.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within budget guidelines and meet required deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with issues management in a political environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and direct resources.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to relate well with all levels of the organization and external contacts.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, and to prepare and conduct presentations.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with all levels of the organization and external contacts.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive information.

Weekly Hours: 40 

Salary Range: $123,869.52 to $145,546.56 CAD per annum (2025 rates)
