Job Summary

Under supervision of the Accounting Coordinator, this position prepares the daily payroll, maintains accurate current records and assists with other payroll and accounting functions.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists with the preparation of the daily payroll, including the calculation of premium pay and maintains related payroll records.
  • Maintains records related to other operational statistics, as required.
  • Assists with the daily accounting of transit fares.
  • Responds to enquiries, from the public, concerning Transit Services, as required.
  • Performs the duties of other office staff, as required.
  • Performs the duties of the Coordinator, Payroll Services, as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of one-year post-secondary business-related certificate (i.e., Human Resources, Accounting, Business Administration).
  • Two years' payroll experience.
  • Knowledge of federal and provincial laws, City regulations and union agreements applicable to payroll.
  • Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations rapidly and accurately.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and civic employees.
  • Skill in the operation of a computer with word-processing, spreadsheet and database software in a Windows environment.

Weekly Hours: 36.67 

Salary Range: $55,126.32 to $60,438.96 CAD per annum (2026 rates)
