This position is a IBEW 319 position and will be filled in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Should it not be filled in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, external candidates will be considered.
Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Maintenance Engineer, this position provides condition assessment and program development support for Saskatoon Light & Power infrastructure.
Duties & Responsibilities
- In consultation with the GIS Analyst and subject matter experts, assist with the development and implementation of comprehensive asset registry lists.
- Perform Reliability-Centered Maintenance / Failure Mode and Effects (RCM/FMEA) analyses using information that is gathered from subject matter experts and industry resources.
- Determine and report on condition rating and residual life, and replacement costs of assets.
- Perform risk analyses and create risk priority numbers highlighting the impact of proposed tasks in mitigating risk.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, project managers, and the Planning section to create a summary of proposed Capital and Operations & Maintenance tasks for assets.
- Assist in the creation and periodic review of Asset Management Plans and Strategic Asset Management Plans, customer and technical levels of service documents, and the research and development of policies, procedures, and standards.
- Prepares work orders, cost estimates, and budget estimates as required.
- Perform field work, as required, including elementary surveying, contractor supervision in conjunction with appropriate trades, inspection, recording of installations, and taking physical and electrical measurements.Locate and stake underground and other utility facilities for construction clearances.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience Requirements
- Graduation from a recognized, two-year, post-secondary Electrical Engineering Technology program.
- Registered as a Professional Technologist with Technology Professionals Saskatchewan.
- Four to seven years related experience in an electrical utility. Experience with transmission, distribution, substations and street lighting will be considered an asset.
- Successful completion of:
- One or more courses of the AMP education towards PEMAC CAMP; and
- Successful completion of the Electrical Engineering Technologist I Skills Assessment exam.
- Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver's Licence.
- Current Driver’s Abstract from SGI demonstrating safe driving record.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
- Thorough knowledge of asset management techniques, principles and practices applied to the operation, maintenance, and rehabilitation of electrical systems.
- Ability to document and chart business processes accurately.
- Ability to prepare and present technical reports.
- Ability to produce, read and interpret engineering plans.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, orally and in writing.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database management applications, including the ability to customize applications.
Weekly Hours: 37.33
Salary Range: $101,212.66 to $106,057.59 CAD per annum (2026 rates)
