Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Culture and Inclusion Manager, this position is responsible for the coordination, administration and evaluation of arts and culture grant funding programs.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develops, coordinates, administers and monitors civic arts and culture policy, services and programs as identified in the City’s municipal culture plan.
- Provides professional advice and counsel to arts and culture organizations and develops initiatives to support the City’s objectives to nurture and strengthen the local cultural community.
- Shares grant opportunities at the City of Saskatoon through marketing channels, presentations, and grant information sessions.
- Develops and maintains effective relationships with outside agencies regarding provincial arts and culture initiatives that may have a municipal impact.
- Ensures art, recreation, community and cultural grant program policies and procedures are followed.
- Develops and facilitates grant writing workshops and provides advice and expertise to local organizations to foster sustainability, garner feedback, and limit barriers.
- Participate in, and lead as assigned, the development and implementation of new or revised grant programs including application materials, materials for reviewers, structure, equity, policies, and practices that reflect a consistent approach across City of Saskatoon.
- Provides written and verbal feedback in response to inquiries from grant applicants and public inquiries regarding the arts and grants process
- Monitors and reviews relevant processes to ensure that successful grant recipients meet the necessary Terms and Conditions.
- Reviews and evaluates grant programs on a regular basis. This includes reviewing administrative processes and getting feedback from program applicants.
- Makes recommendations to enhance program equity, inclusivity, relevancy, and long-term growth.
- Prepares reports for City Council regarding grant awards and programs.
- Assists in the preparation and monitoring of related budgets.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A degree in one of the following: Arts Administration, Fine Arts, Humanities, Cultural Studies, Indigenous Studies, Public Administration, Social Sciences.
- Six years’ progressively responsible experience working in community development involving grant administration and arts and culture programming, including two years’ supervisory experience.
- Considerable knowledge of the theory and practice of arts issues applicable to all levels of government.
- Considerable knowledge of organizational and volunteer development and their application to personal and community development in the arts.
- Knowledge of public participation processes, group facilitation, team building and group dynamics.
- Knowledge of current literature, standards, trends and evaluation principles and methods applicable to arts development.
- Knowledge of challenges facing equity groups when accessing arts and culture funding.
- Knowledge of the current arts and culture organizations in Saskatoon with an understanding of the challenges faced by this sector.
- Knowledge of equitable and inclusive practices that support disadvantaged groups to participate in the grant application process.
- Ability to work with diverse organizations and community groups.
- Ability to express ideas and concepts effectively, orally and in writing, including the ability to develop and conduct presentations, training sessions and produce resource materials.
- Ability to develop, maintain and facilitate processes and partnerships for successful project delivery.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with co-workers, volunteers, elected officials, outside agencies and the public.
- Skill in the use of a computer using the Microsoft Office Suite.
Weekly Hours: 36.67
Salary Range: $78,705.84 to $86,773.68 CAD per annum (2025 rates)
