Job Summary
Under supervision of the Recreation Technician 8, this position monitors scheduled public admission recreational activities.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Monitors scheduled public admission recreational activities.
- Maintains a hazard-free, clean and safe activity area.
- Distributes and retrieves equipment and ensures the proper use of equipment and activity space.
- Completes attendance records and evaluation forms.
- Assists with setting up the activity space.
- Assists with maintaining an inventory of equipment and supplies.
- Follows emergency procedures established for the activity and reports situation to the supervisor.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience Requirements
- Grade 10 education.
- One year's related experience in monitoring or instructing recreational activities.
- Possession of valid first aid and Level C CPR certificates.
Knowledge, Abilites and Skills
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to exercise good judgement in resolving issues that affect the use of the activity space and equipment, and group interaction and safety.
Requires Security Check
Weekly Hours: Determined by the department.
Salary Range: $17.04 to $18.79 CAD per hour (2025 rates)
