Job Summary

This position coordinates the various accounting and control functions of the Division and ensures appropriate accounting records are maintained and reports produced as well as ensuring proper cash handling procedures are documented and followed throughout the Corporation.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Recruits, directs and supervises, trains and evaluates performance of staff for the assigned work unit.
  • Controls, revises and maintains accounting records and systems in the Division.
  • Audits and monitors cash-handling procedures and documentation throughout the Corporation.
  • Ensures appropriate business practices and procedures are considered in Revenue Division system development and maintenance.
  • Produces timely and reliable financial and statistical reports for the Division.
  • Manages the activities of the Administration Section, including the payroll and administrative support services functions. 
  • Coordinates the reconciliation of various general ledger accounts and systems through the Division.  Ensures that the processing and balancing of payments are added to the general ledger in a timely fashion.
  • Maintains a current knowledge of all bylaws, policies and legislation relating to the Division's accounting and billing systems and recommends and implements required changes.
  • Develops, implements, monitors and documents operating procedures and methods of the Accounting and Support Services Sections.
  • Prepares and monitors the budget for the Accounting and Support Services Sections.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


  • Degree in commerce, finance or related discipline.
  • Possession of a professional accounting designation; i.e. CPA.
  • Four to six years’ progressively responsible related experience in financial and management analysis and reporting.
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of financial and cost accounting.
  • Considerable knowledge of business process analysis and system design and implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare accounting and financial reports.
  • Ability to direct and support staff to achieve identified results.
  • Ability to provide leadership and empowerment to achieve results through others.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff.
  • Ability to be accountable for personal performance and the performance of staff.
  • Ability to negotiate agreements through problem-solving, consensus, stakeholder involvement and dialogue.
  • Ability to express ideas and concepts effectively, orally and writing, including the ability to prepare and present oral and written reports of a specialized nature.
  • Demonstrated skill in the use of Windows word-processing and spreadsheet software.

Weekly Hours: 36.67 

Salary Range: $80,150.88 to $93,935.04 CAD per annum (2022 rates)
