Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Accounting Coordinator, this position processes and verifies a variety of records related to payroll, accounts payable/receivable for the department and responds to enquiries from employees and management. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepares, enters, reconciles and maintains data related to the payroll and accounts payable/receivable in accordance with established policies and practices.  Conducts enquiries and produces reports from these systems.
  • Maintains records for sick and vacation accruals and leaves, increment dates, overtime, etc. and reconciles them to the corporate system reports.
  • Prepares monthly billings and accounts receivables for charges to vendors.
  • Responds to payroll enquiries from employees, managers, other departments and specified outside agencies.
  • Processes payroll for the department in accordance with established policies and practices.  Reconciles subsidiary records to corporate records.
  • Assists with the review, development, implementation, and revision of standards, controls, processes, procedures and forms related to the work order and payroll systems.
  • Assists with the development, analysis, and interpretation of financial data and statistics. Prepares correspondence, reports, and other documents as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 education.
  • Successful completion of a recognized one-year post-secondary accounting related program
  • Three years' progressively responsible related payroll/accounting clerk experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles of modern office management procedures and systems.
  • Considerable knowledge of hourly and salaried payroll terminology and accounting procedures.
  • Considerable knowledge of federal and provincial laws, city regulations and union agreements applicable to payroll.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain sustained attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to make arithmetic calculations with speed and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Demonstrated skill in the use of word-processing and spreadsheet software in a Windows environment.

Acceptable current Criminal Record Check (CRC) upon offer of employment.

Additional Requirements

Weekly Hours: 36.67 

Salary Range: $55,126.32 to $60,438.96 CAD per annum (2026 rates)
