Job Summary
Under supervision of the Access Transit Supervisor, this position conducts training programs and evaluations pertaining to vehicle operation and assists with the development and maintenance of related programs.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Trains and instructs employees in the proper methods and procedures for the safe and efficient operation of Access Transit vehicles.
2. Ensures that employees are trained properly to meet the requirements of the appropriate Driver's Licence classification.
3. Assists with the development and maintenance of an effective driver training program, as required.
4. Performs evaluations of drivers during training, probation and subsequent reviews to ensure effective and efficient operation of vehicles. Conducts refresher courses, as required.
5. Serves on the Saskatoon Transit Vehicle Accident Adjudication Committee.
6. Assists with the maintenance of records related to driver training, vehicle accidents and adjudications.
7. Provides oral and written reports, as required.
8. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Grade 12 education.
• Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 4 Driver's Licence.
• Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
• Five years' experience driving an Access Transit bus for the City of Saskatoon.
• Thorough knowledge of The Traffic Safety Act and related regulations.
• Ability to develop and deliver training programs effectively.
• Ability to deal courteously and tactfully with the public.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Demonstrated superior driving skills.
• Skill in the use of a computer using the Microsoft Office Suite.
Weekly Hours: Variable depending on business requirements.
Salary Range: $31.84 to $34.75 CAD per hour (2022 rates)
