Job Summary

Drive the City of Saskatoon’s emergency preparedness forward by supporting the design, execution, and continuous improvement of the emergency management program. In this role, you will actively collaborate with critical infrastructure, municipal, provincial, and federal partners to strengthen coordination and enhance community resilience. Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership on emergency planning and preparedness within the City of Saskatoon as an organization and the community.
  • Develops and writes emergency plans, incident action plans and contingency plans for the City of Saskatoon in partnership with internal and external stakeholders for Special events, incidents and ongoing emergency events.
  • Develops and maintains key partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinates internal City of Saskatoon emergency preparedness exercises to evaluate and improve emergency response plans.
  • Works with external partners and stakeholders in large scale emergency response planning and exercises.
  • Develops, provides and reviews relevant professional development and training opportunities for internal and external partners and stakeholders.
  • Coordinates the activation of on-site incident command post and the City of Saskatoon Emergency Operations Centre as required and in alignment with the Municipal Emergency Management Plan..
  • Represents Saskatoon EMO at internal and external partnerships.
  • Communicates using the emergency mass notification system with internal and external partners and stakeholders following the City of Saskatoon Municipal Emergency Management Plan.
  • Prepares written reports, resources and training plans as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 education.
  • Four to six years' experience in Emergency Management.  
  • Completion of, or can achieve certification upon hire: Emergency Management Certificate or Diploma
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
  • Possession of a valid, Class 5 Saskatchewan Driver’s Licence.
  • Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
  • Demonstrated ability to build consensus, generate common understanding and create shared vision in an environment of diverse stakeholders and interests
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive and productive working relationships with other employees, civic officials, representatives of other agencies and the public.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, identify underlying issues/problems and recommend required actions.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, including the ability to prepare and present reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work to complete projects.
  • Knowledge of the Critical Infrastructure sector in Saskatoon.
  • Knowledge of Emergency Service Departments that provide services to the City of Saskatoon.

Weekly Hours: 37.5 

Salary Range: $136,158.72 to $139,506.96 CAD per annum (2023 rates)
